Frequently asked questions
- Can I upload a PDF bank statement?
- Not yet. The converter works with CSV files, which almost every US and UK bank lets you download alongside the PDF. If you only have PDFs, choose one in the tool to join the waitlist for PDF import.
- Is my bank data uploaded anywhere?
- No. Your CSV is read and cleaned in your browser and never leaves your device.
- What columns does my CSV need?
- A header row with a date, a description, and an amount column. Common names work, such as Transaction Date, Posted, Details, Memo, Narration, or Value. Any other columns are left out of the clean file.
- My bank uses separate debit and credit columns. Will it work?
- Not yet. The converter needs a single amount column, with money out shown as negative numbers. If you'd like debit and credit columns supported, tell me in the form on this page.
- What does the converter clean up?
- It keeps the date, description, and amount columns, tidies extra spaces in descriptions, and turns amounts like $1,250.00, £1,250 or (45.99) into plain numbers (1250.00 and -45.99) that Excel can add up.
